THE NEED FOR TRAINING IN GOVERNMENT
Every society desires a leadership, which is dynamic, proactive, capable and above all
knowledgeable, so that it can most ably represent the society for its betterment. There are many
young men and women who desire to assume leadership within the society, but do not know
how to go about it. For eg:-
1. How the Election Commission functions?
2. What is Bogus Voting?
3. What is the importance of Postal Voting?
4. How can we check the reliability of Electronic Voting Machines?
5. How to use the Right to Information act?
6. What is P.I.L and how is it useful?
7. What is Political Campaign?
8. What is Election Campaign?
9. What is the role of a government during an emergency?
10. Relationship between and Legislature & Executive?
11. How many Ministries are there? Their Roles & Responsibilities?
12. What are the Roles & Responsibilities of Member of Parliament from Lok Sabha and
Rajya Sabha?
13. How many layers of Government we have in India and how do they function?
14. What is the process of drafting & presenting a Bill in the Parliament, Assembly etc.?
15. What is the role of Judiciary?
16. What is the dynamics of a fund raising campaign?
17. How the general Budget is prepared?

A dire need was felt for an academy that would impart the necessary knowledge and
empower these young aspirants with the wherewithal and the training to be dynamic leaders.
This culminated in the founding of MIT School of Government in 2005. It has received a very
warm and positive response from all sections of the society, including the political leadership,
irrespective of political affiliations. MIT School of Government (MIT-SOG) was established with
the active support of UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Democracy and Peace, World Peace
Centre, Alandi, Pune.
