On this Gandhi Jayanti (October 2, 2008), MAAER’s Maharashtra Institute of Technology’s School Of Government (MIT-SOG), held their Convocation Ceremony which was presided over by Shri. E.S.L. Narasimhan, H.E. Governor of Chhattisgarh and the Chief Guest for the occasion was Smt. Rajashree Birla, Chairperson, Aditya Birla Foundation, Mumbai. The MPG-03 Course Completion Certificates were distributed by the Governor while the Certificates for Academic Excellence were given by Smt. Rajashree Birla.
The ceremony commenced with the procession led by Prof. (Gp. Capt.) D.P. Apte, Director MIT-SOG, followed by Shri. ESL Narasimhan, H.E. Governor of Chhattisgarh. Smt. Rajashree Birla, Chairperson Aditya Birla Foundation, Prof. (Dr.) Vishwanath D. Karad, Founder President & Managing Trustee MAEER’s MIT Group of Institutions, Shri. T.N. Seshan – Chairman MIT-SOG and Prof. Rahul V. Karad - Dean MIT-SOG along with the students who were well-attired in their convocation robes. The function started with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, Prof. (Dr.) Vishwanath D. Karad gave the welcome address emphasizing the philosophy and principles that drive MAEER’s MIT Group. In the ensuing address Shri. T.N. Seshan put forth his views about putting up this institute by saying, "Politics is only an important part of governance, not governance itself. MIT-SOG has been designed to create efficient and knowledgeable leaders with integrity" He also suggested starting a course dedicated to Terrorism and Conflict resolution, in view of the series of terror events that have struck India. The main convocation ceremony saw a lot of enthusiasm. The participants enjoyed each moment while receiving their graduation certificates from the dignitaries. Special certificates for three outstanding participants were announced. A feeling of nostalgia prevailed, as participants remembered the good times they spent whether it was the pre-poll survey they carried out in Gujarat or the International Study Tour to London, Paris, Geneva, Belgium and Hague, where they visited the WTO, UNESCO, Peace I Palace, House Of Lords and NATO headquarters.
