On 20th March the team got an opportunity to witness the proceedings of the Lok Sabha albeit just for a fifteen meager minutes. But it was more than enough to get a feel of how it is inside the house. Many illustrious leaders from the ruling and opposition parties were present in the house. The speaker read a statement. Several bills were placed on the table. The controversial Nandigram issue was then raised and the house was adjourned in the ensuing commotion.
The majesty of the building, the way the security agencies handled their job, the way the press waited outside, the curious on lookers in the visitors' block, all of them were a sight to watch. The team also been to Parliament Museum - a conglomeration of the age-old dolls and the new-age multimedia styles based on the history of India's freedom struggle and the inception of the Indian democracy, which the Parliament was a symbol of. Once out of the Parliament, the group headed towards the Qutub Minar, one of the many famous monuments of Delhi. |
