3rd NATIONAL LEVEL FELICITATION CEREMONY OF CANDIDATES SUCCESSFUL IN THE UPSC CIVIL SERVICES EXAM - 2010

Date - Saturday 30th July 2011

MAEER’s MIT-School of Government organized the 3rd National level felicitation of the successful candidates in UPSC examination 2010 on 30th July 2011 at Saint Dnyaneshwara Hall, MIT Campus, Pune. More than 67 UPSC rank holders were present on the occasion. Eminent Computer Scientist, Dr. Vijay Bhatkar was the Chief Guest for the occasion.  Ms. S. Divyadarshini, the 1st rank holder and Dr. R. V. Varun Kumar, the 3rd rank holder were also present.  Prof. Rahul. V. Karad, Dean MIT School of Government, Prof. Mangesh Karad, Executive Director, MAEER’s MIT Group of Institutions, Prof. (Gp. Capt.) D. P. Apte, Director MIT-SOG, Mr. S. Darade Patil, Dean MIT were also present for the function.

 

 

Prof. Rahul. V. Karad delivered the welcome speech wherein he mentioned the purpose of this felicitation ceremony and vision, activities, success and challenge of MIT School of Government. He also informed the candidates about the Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad, (www.indianstudentparliament.com) a platform which will sensitize younger mass about democratic values. While accepting the fact that making a career for civil service is not an easy task, he motivated the candidates to serve by giving the example of Sir Arthur Cottons work in west Godavari district.

Ms. S. Divyadarshini the 1st rank holder while sharing her views expressed that her intension to join civil service is to give back to the society without indulging in corruption. She made a pledge to serve the country on behalf of the candidates.  

Dr. R. V. Varun Kumar shared his intension to join IPS and his dream to change the image of Indian police force and to work for the country. He clarified that he chose IPS to hold national emblem on his shoulder. Dr. Varun Kumar told the need of a non violent mutiny to make our self free from nepotism, corruption and cynicism and take the country towards positive growth. In his view the best ability possessed by the civil servant is a good memory which only will guide them forward. While narrating the civil service exam, he shared that the preliminary exam taught him how to take non-controversial decisions; through main exam he learnt neutrality and interview equipped him to be empathetic towards citizenry.

Another candidate Mr. Karthik. G. Iyer expressed that the Sant Dnyaneshwara hall is the place of ideas, and innovation which will be the guiding light in their future endeavor. In his words every service has its own contribution. Ethics and morals dictate the standards of the society and we will have to keep our standards high. Mr. Harsh. A. Poddar another candidate who was a barrister from London explained why he opted civil service from excellent lucrative options in the  cooperative sector because he care more about the loftiness of the cause rather than his personal grandeur.

Mr. Sanjay Nahar, founder president of Sarhad, shared his experience and narrated that it is the phase of the common man. His message was that there is a responsibility to work together and even small experiences can give big message.

Dr. Vijay Bhatkar, the chief guest of the function, addressed the candidates and motivated them to contribute to the Indian civil service.  He mentioned that the synthesis of science and spirituality can only bring peace to the world. Dr. Bhatkar appreciated the candidates’ choice to serve the nation to best of their ability and for the pledge they have made.

He accepted that there is crisis of good governance in India. In his view increasing population is the asset of India. He narrated that in economic terms and in science and technology India progressed a lot. Food grains are loaded in the warehouses today. He reminded the candidates of Indian skills while discussing on Bill Gates comment “Watch out India is going to eat our brain’.  He discussed of Public distribution system and farmers suicide cases. Dr Bhatkar clarified that what India is lacking is education, literacy and good governance.  Prof. (Gp. Capt.) D. P. Apte, Director, MIT School of Government proposed the vote of thanks. Video messages from experts like Shri. N. Gopalaswami. Shri T.N. Seshan, Smt. Aruna Roy & Dr. J. P. Narayan were screened to congratulate & to encourage the candidates.
The felicitation ceremony proved to be motivating for the young aspirants to contribute towards nation-building and to work with conviction without fear and favors.

 


FELICITATION CEREMONY OF

UPSC - 2009 SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES


Date - Sunday 18th July 2010

MAEER’s MIT School of Government organized the second felicitation ceremony of the successful candidates in the UPSC examination 2009. The program was held at the Saint Shri. Dnyaneshwara Hall, MAEER’s MIT Campus, Kothrud, Pune. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Anil Kakodkar. He is the Former President of Indian Atomic Energy Commission who has played a key role in the development of Indian Nuclear program and promoting nuclear energy as a convenient source of energy across the country to cope up the contemporary challenge of Energy requirement.

 

The program commenced with the welcome address by Shri. Rahul V. Karad, Chief Initiator & Dean of MIT School of Government, wherein he welcomed and appreciated efforts of all UPSC participants from across the country. The program was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Vishwanath D. Karad, Founder President & Managing Trustee MAEER’s MIT Group of Institutions. During his address, he stressed on the role of spirituality and science for the development of human being and reaches the excellence. He quoted the greatness of administration and relation with political authorities.

 

Chief Guest Padma Vibhushan Dr. Anil Kakodkar felicitated more than seventy successful candidates from UPSC 2009 including the three toppers. During his speech, he mentioned the importance of administrative services and their role in the development of the nation. He also mentioned that rather than being the blockade of any developmental project, be the promoter of the development and make this country proud.

The THREE UPSC 2009 TOPPERS expressed their views on the occasion -

1) Dr. Shah Faisal - Ranked 1 (from Jammu and Kashmir) – He is an iconic figure not only for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir but for the entire country. He expressed his views on encouraging the youth to be a part of the system to make this system more transparent and quality & service driven.

2) Ms. Iva Sahay - Ranked 2 (from Uttar Pradesh) – She is an energetic & enthusiastic young lady from Allahabad who has a dream to serve the needy people of all classes of the society in a timely manner so as the delay should not hamper the very cause and development.

3) Mr. Prakash Rajpurohit - Ranked 3 (from Ghaziabad) – He spoke about his preparation for this examination and would like to contribute for the development of nation and curtail the corruption by using technology for masses and to reach out grassroots of the country for their betterment.

   

The most admiring and appealing experience was shared by Mr. Manoj Kumar Roy, another successful candidate of UPSC 2009. He narrated his real life experience since childhood about his struggle for existence and the survival of his own life because of financial constraints. He further added that, to keep his dream alive - how he sold eggs, sold fruits and vegetables, worked as peon in various offices and simultaneously kept his focus on his studies & preparation for the examination. Finally his tireless efforts paid off and he succeeded with a deserving position in the UPSC 2009 examination.

Mr. T. N. Seshan, former Chief Election Commissioner of India and Mentor MIT School of Government sent his blessings and best wishes through a recorded video message. He mentioned that quality administration and importance of decision making in this domain along with the sincerity towards work will take these participants to new heights and create landmark in the field of Administration.

The program concluded with Vote of Thanks proposed by Prof. (Gp. Capt.) D. P. Apte, Officiating Director, MIT School of Government followed by the National Anthem.
