Next appointment was at the Oxfam Novib office. Mr. Coonh gave a lecture on the functioning of Oxfam Novib especially in India. He informed that Novib was established in 1956 and it joined the Oxfam international family in 1992. Their budget is up to 10 million Euros. It has different departments such as Projects Department (which has regional units- South Asia Unit is one such regional unit), Campaigns Department, Lobby and Media division etc. Their first project in India started in 1964. They work through local organizations. The focus areas are: poverty, identity (Dalits, Adivasis etc.), agriculture, education, healthcare, disaster management, civil-political rights etc. It was a revelation to see Mr. Coonh's in-depth knowledge and analysis of the problems in India.
