International Visit '07 Masters Program in Government (MPG-02)

As MIT School of Government aspires to prepare a new generation of leadership based upon knowledge and professionalism, it endeavors to inculcate sustainable leadership qualities through experiential learning from grass roots to the international level. In order to adhere to this objective the institute organised an international exposure tour for the participants, which included United Kingdom, France, The Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. The purpose of the tour included learning's from the existing socio-political, administrative and economic system in Europe, experiencing the working of the international organizations and interacting with the non-governmental organizations and business forums to identify the areas of common interests. Apart from these, the tour also emphasized upon understanding of the existing and potential areas of co-operation between India and Europe and the related foreign policy issues.

It was a proud moment for the MIT family present in Hague when GHRD conferred the Human Rights award of The Hague to Mr. Mr. Rahul V. Karad the Dean of MIT School of Government, Mr. Pardeep Choudhary received the award on behalf of Mr. Karad.


 

Commonwealth Secretariat, The Commonwealth, London
At the Commonwealth Secretariat the participants not only saw the organization but were also briefed about it’s functioning and the operations of the Secretary General. Political Affairs Division and Economic Affairs Division gave the participants a quick briefing about the political situation in relation to India and the stands of the Commonwealth and the economic cooperation between the countries of the commonwealth.
 
Indian High Commission
Discussed the issues regarding the structure of the Commission, difference between an Embassy and a High Commission, Role of a politician in the Commission and various other related issues like Visa and immigration. The Minister in High Commission Dr. Swati Kulkarni also joined the discussion and was lively explaining the various education related initiatives.
 
Royal Courts of Justice, London
The Participants had the opportunity to visit the Royal Courts of Justice and were also allowed into the courts campus. We were also allowed to sit in the courtrooms and witness proceedings. They listened patiently to a case about a girl and also could observe the dynamism in the courtroom. The lawyers were specifically thrilled to be part of the visit and also tried to compare the functioning of our courts to the RCJ and found many similarities.
