International Visit '07 Masters Program in Government (MPG-02)

The Hague University, The Hague
Mr T.I.M. van Tongeren, the head of Public Management Department, made the opening speech. He briefly spoke about development of the association of the Hague University with MITSOG for the common goals of entrusting in students political education and social responsibility. He quoted American author John while explaining the need of imbibing into the students the values and importance of democracy. He explained the role of the university in helping promote the democracy in the European countries. He expressed his satisfaction on the joint programme between GHRD, MITSOG and the Hague University.Mr Bimal Patel, (OPCW) then took over explaining how these two institutions can undertake educational projects promoting relations between the Netherlands and India. He mentioned that for last 8 yrs he is been undertaking such work with scholars, teachers and students and how they have benefited from it and rather in future how benefits can be obtained. There is enormous scope for Indian students to learn from the Netherlands and in turn the Netherlands can learn the important concept of knowledge economy from the MITSOG and India. He addressed the students on the very important issue of how they should now act as leaders and how they should identify their partners through this visit. He paid special thanks to GHRD for their cooperation and inspiration.

Visit to Delta Water Management Project
The participants got to see the biggest water mangement project in the world. They were taken around the site and were breifed about the fucntioning of the project.

The delegation were fascinated to see the functioning of this port which is said to be one of the largest port in the world and it proves to be a gateway for the commercial activities to the entire Europe.

Visit and interaction with Seva NGO, The Hague
The student of Indian Origin in Surinam who migrated to Netherlands forms this NGO. This organization represents the confluence of the three countries culture viz. India, Surinam and Netherlands. The participants understood the role of this organization and their work in India and Surinam.
