MAEER’S MIT SCHOOL OF GOVERNMENT

MPG-07 CLASSES COMMENCE

The orientation program started at 09:30am with the World Peace Prayer

. The Director of the MIT School of Government Prof (Gp Capt) D.P. Apte and the Honorary Academic Advisor Prof. Dr. Shrikant Paranjpe were present on this occasion.

Prof. (Gp. Capt.) D. P. Apte, Director, MITSOG, advised the participants to remain consistent and committed throughout the duration of the program. He urged them to understand the significance of the program, make best use of the various opportunities the program provides to the participants’ in terms of the hallmarks of the MITSOG – the Bharatiya Chatra Sansad, Bharat Asmita National Awards, Issue based internship, National and International Study Tours.

 

Dr. Shrikant Paranjpe gave introductory remarks about the MPG program. He urged the participants to adhere to values and rigor to enhance their knowledge, spoken and written skills. The participants were briefed about the significance of understanding the political system, having a cursory knowledge of the Indian constitution, supplementing classroom lectures with fiel trips. He advised the participants to shed their inhibitions about public speaking and told them to practice rigorously in the weekly sessions on Public Speaking.

The Faculty members of the MIT School of Government briefed the participants about the Vision and objectives behind the establishment of the School of Government.

Shri. R. Radhakrishnan, Course Head, introduced the participants to the broader outline of the syllabus, rules and regulations concerning the course and stay in the hostel, different projects of the MITSOG, field visits, state, national and international study tours undertaken by the MITSOG Participants.

Mr Vidyabhushan Arya, faculty member, spoke about different aspects of the syllabus and its inter-disciplinary approach. He also highlighted the long term goals associated with the MPG program. Ms. Vanisree Ramanathan, faculty member, introduced the concept of experiential learning and methodology and the skills required for understanding it in totality. She conducted a self portrait exercise for the participants.

Mr Ramanand Garge, faculty member, briefly introduced about his area of interest, and the uniqueness of the course. He also urged the participants to understand the finer nuances of domestic politics while trying to know about the global politics.

 

The session of the first day of the MPG-07 program concluded at 4:30 PM.
