1. What are the basic eligibility criteria for admission to MPG program?
A. Any graduate can apply for the program. Students who have appeared in their final year of degree program from any faculty from a recognized University are also eligible to apply for the program.
2. What are the age limits for admission to the program?
A. The upper age limit for the candidates for admission to this program is 35 years, however in exceptional cases it can be relaxed, the sole authority for it lies with the management.
3. Why do I select this program as a career option?
A. It is a Leadership Program designed and devised for a select few who are interested in taking up leadership roles in the areas of Politics & Government. Their future role may involve an active interaction with government, society and media at various levels.
4. How is MPG different from a Masters in Political Science?
Masters in Political Science is a theoretical course where there is minimal exposure given to Students towards practical aspects of the functioning of government. Our course focuses on the experiential, facilitative and case study method of learning whereby the students are exposed to a participative mode of learning. The highlights are -
Interaction with eminent political leaders, social activists, civil servants, academicians, media persons and legal practitioners. Students get to hobnob with such stalwarts at close quarters.
- Practical inputs will be in the form of a lot of field assignments like – projects on social causes.
- A three weeks International Study tour to give the candidates - the global exposure towards functioning of their parliaments and offices.
- National Study Tour to Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhawan and Secretariats.
- Local tours to State Assemblies, Municipal Corporations, Zilla Parishad and Gram Panchayats have been incorporated in the program.
- Field visits are also arranged to NGOs, Defence Establishment, Model Village, Media Houses, Co-operatives etc.

A. One Year Full Time “Masters Program in Government” is the first of its kind program in Asia.
6. What are the future prospects for students at MIT-SOG?
A.A. The career prospects for the students who graduate from MIT School of Government are excellent -
i) Students of this course can look forward to work with leading political leaders, social leaders and various government bodies as Functional Advisors, Strategists and Policy Makers. As back office executives in Political Parties. As Political Analysts & Election Consultants etc.
ii) Students interested in actively pursuing politics, for them the course is an eye opener as we are exposing them to all the facets of government & nuances of politics in India as well as providing them with the much-needed global exposure.

7. What is the process for selection to the Program?
A. TThe selection process for MPG is a two phase process.
Phase 1 comprises of an objective type written test followed by Phase 2 where in a detailed Personal Interview is taken.

A. A. One Year Master’s Program in Government (MPG) consists of 2 Semesters including a National & International Study Tour followed by Attachments up to six months with Political parties & Leaders.

9. What kind of Visiting Faculties can one expect at the Institute?
- Visiting Faculties from various academic backgrounds are invited to have lively interactive sessions with the students sharing their experiences on the basis of their success in their respective fields.
- Eminent Faculties coming for interactive sessions are from – Political, Social, Administrative Cadres, Defence, Media, Judiciary and the Corporate World (Kindly refer to MPG Brochure).
- Lectures are also organized wherein a few select eminent faculties of different nationalities from UNESCO, UNO, ILO and other international bodies come to MIT-SOG campus to provide detailed insight on their policies, procedures & functions.

11. What are the documents to be submitted along with the Application Form?
A. All students are required to submit attested mark sheets of their education from SSC onwards to the last degree /diploma pursued. Final year (graduation) students applying for the program are required to submit the final year mark sheets (original) for verification on or before November 01, 2010.

13. What is the role of interview in the selection process?
A.Interview process is the vital and decision-making phase for allotment of an MPG seat. The Interviews are conducted by the Selection Panel designated by the Governing Council of MIT-SOG. They are aimed at evaluating the candidate’s academic knowledge and general awareness. The Interview also aims to assess the aptitude of the candidate and their aspiration.
14. How many seats for the MPG Program are available at MIT-SOG?
A. MIT-SOG has strength of 90 seats.
15. Is there any reservation in seats available for MPG program?
A. No reservations and quotas are applicable. The selection of the students is purely based on the merit only i.e. the performance in the objective type written test and the personal interview.
16.How I will be intimated about my selection in MPG program?
A. Successful Candidates are informed via phone and email on the same day or the next day of the selection process. Offer Letters are sent within two working days from the date of selection via courier or registered post as applicable.

17. Are there any SCHOLARSHIPS / FINANCIAL AID available for economically weaker students? If yes, please tell me the details.
A. We offer Financial Aid for the economically weaker strata of students who have a very positive attitude and willingness to do good for the society through the program. The basic objective is to assist the students to finance either of their OPTIONALS through financial aid.The Criteria for decision of Financial Aids is devised such that candidates from all sections of the society should have a fair chance to enroll. Any individual who meets the basic academic criteria mentioned in the prospectus can apply. No distinction or reservation is made on the basis of class, caste, creed or religion.
18. Please let me know the details on EDUCATION LOANS?
A. The institute has no tie up with any Bank to provide educational loans. But candidates looking to avail such facility may contact them on their own. The rate of interest offered is in the range of 13% to 14%. They may require collateral security or guarantors. |
